Santa stopped here

with the CUTEST stamps from Darcies. Oh, my goodness. Kim asked for help choosing one and ended up telling me that I was no help at all. Now, if you know me I can give you an argument for either side of the discussion (most times) so I could give her pros and cons for each of her options. Here is a quick peak at one or two of the sets.

Okay. I've got to get out of here to finish up some Christmas preparations but we've added some eye candy to the site. Check them out in the Stamps section.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Oh, the Weather Outside is Frightful

and inside is so delightful. And since the Turtle is closed ... I'll scrap at home, scrap at home, scrap at home.

The Powers that Be have closed the buildings here in St. Jacobs today, December 19, so that everyone can be safe in the time leading up to Christmas. This is a predicted storm that actually did materialize. We want all of our friends and customers to be safe, so the crop tonight has been cancelled as well. We will be open for business as usual tomorrow at 10, weather permitting.

We wouldn't want anyone going through Turtle withdrawal, however, so ...

TODAY ONLY, in honour of the snowstorm, we are offering 15% off your entire online order (regular priced merchandise only). Orders must be submitted before 11:59 tonight to be eligible for the discount. Please enter coupon code LETITSNOW08 when ordering.

Stay in where it's safe. Enjoy some family time. Crop a bit. Shop a bit. Visit the message board and we'll see you soon.

Just a quick note to let you know that

more gift ideas have arrived for you or for the person who is shopping for you. If you've been on the message board in the last day or two you've seen the new gift tins from KI Memories. There are six styles of gift tin. The metal tin includes a post-bound album, 40 sheets of paper (10 designs), glitter rub-ons and three styles of stickers ...a great start for a project you have in mind (or for the new scrapbooker on your list).

We've also just received a very colourful line of paper from American Crafts. The new Teen line has some interesting patterns for your projects.

I know a few people who will definitely want the new Thickers, if only for the name of time. This font is Tiara and is very nicely blinged up for you already.

We are expecting more exciting, new product in the store this week so watch for more updates.

How about that?!?!

Three posts in a week. We're on a roll now. I've been busy trying to catch up on new product and getting it on the website.

I know that several of you are keeping track of the Tim Holtz 12 tags of Christmas. Did you realize that we have the masks used in Day 10 in the store? These masks are almost 12" long so they can be used for a full page or you can use a piece of it on a smaller project.

The masks are the reverse of a stencil. Put them down on your project. Ink or paint or spray over them. Clean off the mask and lift it off the page and you have protected an area of your background from the colour medium you have added . These do have a repositional adhesive on the back, so they won't shift as you add your colour.

Bev was also very happy to see the Dimensional Pearls make an appearance. These are used similar to Stickles but are actually a pearl toned acrylic paint. They can be used on any crafting project, including fabric projects, so play with some soon. You'll love the results.

The holidays are getting closer and closer. Have you finished your shopping yet? How about your wish list? We have wish lists available online and in the store to make the shopping easier for the Santa in your life (or for you if you do your own shopping). Our 12 Gifts of Christmas have been a hit with many customers. We have everything wrapped already - ready for placing under the tree.

Don't forget to bring your Turtle Tote with you when you are out shopping. Use it before Christmas to be eligible to win a Pizza Crop party ... use it on Bagging Day for great savings in the store.

Well, time to get more work done. Watch for more updates.

So ... you go for 3 weeks waiting to see

what wonderful pieces of wisdom we have to impart upon you with not a post to be seen. Then, lo and behold, two posts in one day. Things have been busy around here with us helping Santa's elves by wrapping gifts for all the good ladies and gents who visit us each year, gracing us with their smiles and good humour. We KNOW you've been good all year ... you show us with each visit.

I also like to save my posts for when I have some good news to share ... like the arrival of new product on the website. I know that many of you are local, and would love to know as soon as something arrives in our hands here, but I like to save the news for when I can share with those who aren't lucky enough to live nearby.

Over the last week we've had a few new items arrive. Some of them I have been unable to get images for ... yet ... but we do have the new collection of Ranger Distress and Glitz Stickles and Crackle Paint in four new colours. Three are metallic and the fourth is white. What took so long with that one? We also have the new Seasonal and Nature Grungeboard, new Fragments and, not available on the website yet, Masks.

For those who have been anxiously awaiting October Afternoon, we have some VERY CUTE paper from them, along with stamps and stickers. Come check them out.

There's a little peak for you at what has been arriving here. There are more things to come ... watch for them.

It's Here!

It's Here! Scrapbook & Cards Today Winter Issue! Wooo! As usual, the team at S&CT do not disappoint! Another fabulous, must-have issue to add to your collection! Come in and pick up your FREE copy with your next purchase! But don't dilly dally, these babies do NOT last long! I suspect they will not make it through the weekend around here!

I was peeking through my copy and happened to spy a couple layouts by some lovely ladies that all Turtles know pretty well, Victoria Murray and Jennifer Roach! Congrats Vicki and Jen!! Vicki and Jen were on our last design team, and we are not surprised to see their awesome work published! I'll have to go spying through my copy again to see if there are any Turtles we missed ;)

We checked out their Top 10 Most Wanted list to see how many of them we carry... 6! 6 out of 10 in this vast crafting world is pretty darn good we thought! We have Daisy Bucket Paper Ribbon, Bo Bunny Holiday Cheer, Basic Grey Bittersweet Card Kits (on order anyway!), KaiserCraft Rhinestones, Bazzill Dotted Swiss Cardstock and last but not least the QuicKutz Jolly Gift Set! We have to agree with Catherine and team, these are all great choices!!

For those of you filling out your Christmas wish lists or looking for that perfect item, check out our 12 Gifts of Christmas. We have 12 great deals that are sure to put a smile on any scrapbooker's face on Christmas Morning!

The best thing is ... No wrapping required! The elves made sure all these lovely gifts were pre-wrapped! Stop in and finish up your shopping list with some great gifts and get your copy of Scrapbook & Cards Today (which also makes a very nice stocking stuffer!!).

I know, I know ...

It's been quite awhile since we posted anything on the blog, but big things have been happening around here. We had a good turnout for our Haunted Mill crop on Halloween night. Not much went bump in the night ... and what a beautiful night it was for the ghouls who were out and about. Our crew of croppers left much earlier than we thought. By 2:30 everyone had had enough for the night.

Hannah shared her big news with us last week. Congratulations to Hannah and Bob on your anticipated turtle arrival in May!!

Here at the store we have gone from Halloween to Christmas in less than a week. Last weekend marked the annual Sparkles Event in St. Jacobs, where the whole village gets decked out for the upcoming season, stores are open late, great deals are to be had. We had terrific response to our adhesive sale. And the cardstock ... oh, my, there is quite a bit of that that needs to be replaced!!

Lori's QA class was a resounding success. The Countdown Calendar was definitely a hit and in the spirit of sharing, everyone cut out pieces for others in the class. Lori was without a voice at the end of the day, but the QA members left with a great project.

The QuicKutz Christmas Gift Sets have arrived in the store. This year's releases were for Revolution and Silhouette users.

Silhouette users have a beautiful set in "Holly". This set comes with a terrific collection of digital designs, along with adhesive vinyl and two tools - the scraper and the hook.
If you don't already have a Silhouette, we have a great deal for you. For the low, low price (lol) of $299.99, we have the Gift Set bundled with a Silhouette Digital Cutter and a $25 Download card. The machine alone would cost you $369.99. How can you miss with this deal?

For Revolution users, QuicKutz has come up with the Jolly set. This beautiful set has a little bit of something for everyone.
Now, you DO need the 12" platform but it is SOOOOO worth it. Hmmm, you don't have a Revolution yet? We can help you (or your favourite Santa) with that one. We have a Jolly bundle as well. This bundle includes the Revolution tool, the 12" platform and the Jolly Gift Set for $199.99.

But wait!! The new arrivals don't end there. We now have the Scenic Route Garland and Sonoma Lines. Lori is busy creating card classes with these, so watch for them on the calendar in the near future!

And just to make things even MORE Seasonal around here, we received the beautiful Christmas Magic Line from Little Yellow Bicycle. Some of the pages are double-sided, one is flocked, some have foil or varnish on them and there are some gorgeous die cut pages as well. Pictures, of course, do not do them justice!!

You REALLY NEED to come by and visit us at the store. Then you can take a look around at the stuff that has arrived since your last visit. You never know what you might find for your gift-giving projects.

Oh, I almost forgot (though how I could I have no idea) ... with Sparkles came the kick-off for our annual Auction Dollars. We know that people look forward to our auction each year and your time to start collecting for it has come. For those who don't know what I'm talking about, we hold a "receipt auction" each January for our store anniversary. Save your receipts between now and January 17. Every penny you spend in the store is converted to Auction Dollars for our Anniversary Auction. No cash can be used at that sale (though you are welcome to shop in the store that day). Only money spent and receipts presented count towards your Auction Dollars for bidding on the wonderful items. See, another reason to visit.

See you soon!

At long last, our

reduced stock of Copic markers is online for your viewing pleasure (and maybe ordering). Needless to say, they have been a very popular item, especially with the stamping crowd. We are carrying the Sketch line of pen. This pen features a wedge tip and a brush tip. The nibs are replaceable and the pens themselves are refillable ... so you only buy the plastic "holder" once. These pens are alcohol-based, so they work well on non-porous surfaces as well. Use them to create your own glass projects, or colour on the great new transparencies. There you go ... another product with endless possibilities.

Also new to the website are the latest Inkadinkado stamps. We have a very limited selection of wood-mounted ones for Halloween and Christmas, and some great acrylic ones.

Do you have a little princess getting ready for Halloween, or maybe had a princess birthday party? Imaginisce has released the perfect line for you. Called "Fairest of them All", it is a line filled with pink and glitter, castles, carriages, crowns and even a frog.

Speaking of Halloween, we still have a few seats available in our Haunted Mill Halloween crop. Even if you have kids that you need to take out on the rounds (like I do), we haven't set an end time so you could some for a later-start and join in the fun.

Okay, I think I've babbled enough. Time to go see if I can find more stuff to put on the website.

Calling all BasicGrey Fans

We had some new product arrive in the store today. Now, quantities are limited, but I know many of you have been waiting so here's what's new.

2009 Calendar kit

Wassail Card kit
We also received the Wassail and Granola Collection packs and the Wassail 6x6 paper pad. I've been working on other images for the website, so watch tomorrow for more stuff. The Pixee Stix from Pink Paislee are also in-store and on the website. Such a cute little container of glitter ... and sugar-free too!!

We have only a few spots left

in Bev's Christmas Card class this Saturday. As you may have seen in the newsletter, this Saturday Bev will be teaching a stamped Christmas Card class. We have a couple of seats left, so call early to reserve one of these seats. You will create 6 beautiful cards in this class. Here is a sample of two of them.

We want to thank everyone for participating in our yard sale on Saturday. It was a great success, with the vendors earning some money for the new product that is arriving soon. With Hannah and Lori going on another shopping spree last week who knows what will arrive and when.

Speaking of Yard Sales.... I hope you are all up and getting ready to get some great deals! I always get a kick at how much longer the line gets each year!! ;) Of course if I don't get my butt on the move, I am not going to get there in time to see it!

Lori and I had a great time in Utah, we learned lots of stuff and have some great ideas to implement now that we are back. We saw some great ideas coming from product development that unfortunately we are not able to share (no really, we even had to sign papers!) but that we know you will not be disappointed with! We truly love working with QuicKutz, they are a fantastic company run by fantastic people. We are very proud to be a QuicKutz retailer!! So, you know what, I have another QuicKutz prize! This isn't everything, and as you can see, no detail. Now, I could have given you some detail, but it would have been a much smaller sneak preview. The doors will open at 9, not 8:50, not 8:55 though William may be down there making faces at whomever is waiting.

I better go finish getting things ready. See you in the morning! Remember that the sale is cash only.

Congratulations to Jenn and Deanna U.!! You have each won an autographed copy of Holiday Cards!

Lori and I are just resting and checking in with you before heading back down to crop this evening. We had a full day of classes and activities and are so excited to bring back samples of new QK goodness to come! The new gift sets are to die for and we will be bringing some back with us so you will get to see them before they arrive in the store for sale! Want a little sneak peek?? I'll see if Lori will take some pictures for you... (I just got the evil eye for suggesting it... tough crowd sheesh...)

This is how our morning started off... all of the sales reps had to make their way across the stage full of set mouse traps, blindfolded and NO shoes! It was quite a sight! These are our reps Gary and Chris taking their turn ... really quite funny... especially when Spencer tackles Chris! These guys are crazy!

In the meantime... I have some MORE prizes to give away!! QK goodies this time! I have two sets of squeeze shapes to give away! Each set contains 6 dies. Tell us what your favorite QK tool is and why for a chance to win one of these sets. But hurry, post your comment before midnight, Thursday, October 16th! I have to pick a winner because I MAY just have another prize to give away. I'm just sayin'...

still waiting for the gift set images...

so today was the day of celebrities. This morning we were serenaded by Darick Pead, QK Customer Service Extraordinaire and former American Idol contestant! He has a beautiful voice and I might be a little biased since one of the songs he sang was the song we had as our first dance at my wedding! Turtle TV presents Darick singing Somebody by Depeche Mode.

Then one of our American Crafts classes was instructed by Mandy Douglass who was just named by CK as the Scrapbooker of the Year! We have some very sweet projects made with American Crafts products to bring back and show you! One using the latest Christmas line which we have in stock right now, the latest Valentine line which is also in stock and then one using the new Teen line which should be arriving sometime in November!

Ok and here are some images of the new gift sets that are coming soon!!

HOLLY - A Silhouette Gift Set!

JOLLY - A Revolution Gift Set!

all right turtles... it's been a long day and we have some glass etching to do! We are so excited to learn how to do this so we can come back and show you... the wonders of the Silhouette and Vinyl! Have a great night and don't forget to leave posts for a chance to win some dies!!

It's beginning to look alot like Christmas

and thanks to Jenn's link, we know that it is a mere 70 days away. Have you started your Christmas projects yet? Need some help? We have these great kits available to order through the store. Have you seen them? No??? Perhaps you've just walked by them on the way out of the store and didn't realize that you, too, could create these projects. Let me show them to you.

First, the shot of the whole kit and kaboodle of them ... presenting Santa's Workshop!

Kit One is a Snowday Paper Bag Album. This kit comes with the bags and all the paper and stickers to create a really cute winter album.

Kit Two is the Cherish These Moments Canvas kit from Quick Quotes. Done up in brown tones it is a great wall hanging to display some of your family history, or special events from the recent past.
Kit Three will have you creating a set of six cards using the Fancy line from Fancy Pants. Lori has again created an adorable set of cards that you will be able to duplicate using this kit.Kit Four is a beautiful set of Butterfly Candle Holders. These glass holders can be used all year round, decorating your living room, bathroom, bedroom, the choices are yours to make (and so are the holders). This set of three holders are created using Peel Off Stickers and Sakura Glaze pens.Kit Five also makes use of the Peel Off stickers, but this time you have to do some cutting out as well. Colour them up using the Sakura Metallic pens, then cut and layer the stickers to create a three-dimensional ornament. You will also receive the instructions for creating a gift bag for giving these ornaments in. The gift bag makes use of left over stickers and the negative pieces of the sticker sheets as decoration. With Kit Six you will create a set of six Pine Cone Ornaments. These ornaments feature folded pieces of paper to create the pine cone effect. The final project is the Winter Wishes Gift Tin. Lori has created a great teacher gift with this snowman tin. Using Dream street paper, you will cover the tin and then fill it with a mug, hot chocolate and maybe some homemade treats for a teacher or other special person on your list.

Don't these look GREAT?!?!?!? The thing is, though, that if you want any of them you NEED to have your order in by closing time this Saturday, October 18 . (Conveniently, this is the day of our yard sale.) We need to have time to put the kits together so they are ready for you by November 22. On that day, you have the option of picking up the kits and taking them home to work on them, or stay here for our Workshop day, where we can guide you if you are having trouble or you can just coast through the projects you've purchased with people who want to spend a Saturday working on Christmas scrapping stuff.

I mentioned the yard sale above. Don't forget that we have that event going on in-store this Saturday from 9-3. Bring cash (cash sales only for the yard sale). We'll have the crop room converted to the yard sale area. The items are already rolling in and there will be quite the selection, so be ready to shop early. You will have to be patient, though, as we will need to take the tags off of each item as it is rung in. The prices will make it worth the wait, though.

I think I've rambled enough for now. Off to sort more yard sale items (or maybe actually get some new product up on the website).

Hello from YOU-TAH

Hello! We arrived in Utah last evening and have been busy visiting all of our friends! We made our first stop in Bluffdale this morning to visit Layle at Scenic Route! We got to drool over their newest line "Garland" .... oh is it every yummy!! Lori was busy shopping and dreaming of card classes... YES I said CARD classes... how quickly she forgot her statement about never making cards again... but I digress. We are pretty excited for this new order to arrive, we know you will all love Garland! We made sure to order Sonoma as well, and they work quite nicely together. See what Layle has to say about the newest lines!

Turtle TV is proud to introduce Layle Koncar of Scenic Route Paper Company...

So after we left Scenic Route we headed to Orem where we had lunch with Gary and Chris our QuicKutz reps! We went to a yummy place called Rumbi, thanks again Gary!

After our long lunch chat with the guys, we headed down the road to American Crafts! Paul showed us the newest line to be released in November for teens! Super cute papers and embellishments in some awesome colors. We of course stocked up on more thickers and albums too. Paul also gave us a few sneak peeks of future lines they are working on, and boy were they ever cute! I hope we see some of them at the upcoming Winter CHA show!

We then made a quick stop at the University Mall before taking the scenic route (haha) back to Park City. We went through Provo Canyon, where we had visited last year and stopped along the way to take some photos and of course more video for you!!

Turtle TV is proud to present... Provo Canyon, Utah....

Ok turtles, it's getting late and we have a long day of activities tomorrow!! See you soon!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone

Apparently not as many people were doing a family thing today as we thought would be ... or at least they weren't doing it at home. The plan for today was that I would be able to get lots of the new stuff on our site for your viewing and drooling pleasure. However, the visitors to St. Jacobs had other ideas and I had a very, VERY busy afternoon.

I did manage to get some new product up, however. If you haven't been in to check out the new Bazzill colours or textures, you can see them online now. The Dotted Swiss cardstock is flying out of here. We are already out of a couple of the colours and it has only been out on the shelf for about 2 weeks! Each family has 3 colours in it, except for the "neutral" Salt and Pepper. This is a texture that is easily visible. The dots are embossed right into the cardstock.

We have also received our shipment of Destinations (with the exception of a couple of colours). This line is an addition to the canvas texture. With colours like "Vancouver", "Sydney" and "Geneva" you can take a trip around the world in our cardstock area.

Have you seen the new SEI Christmas lines, Alpine Frost and Glitzmas? What great papers these are! Hannah ordered the best of the bunch (some of them really aren't that nice), and a good assortment of the accessories. Alpine Frost is designed for those with a more "classic" taste in Christmas colours, while Glitzmas is funkier. Both lines are filled with shimmer, glitter, some foil ... blinged up Christmas!

Watch this space for more images of new arrivals in the store. I have lots of work ahead of me this week with gathering and resizing images!
Oh, and another thing that has been happening today ... people have been dropping off their items for the Yard Sale this Saturday. It isn't too late if you want to include items. All items MUST be dropped off by Thursday at 6:00 so we can get it sorted and out on Friday. We will have someone at the door at 9:00 on Saturday morning so we can get the Yard Sale underway! The sale will run 9-3.
Okay, I'm off to get some more stuff done but I like to keep you updated. Hannah and Lori should be arriving in Utah shortly to start their week filled with all things QuicKutz (and visiting some of our other suppliers).

Gobble Gobble

Can you believe its almost Thanksgiving here in Canada!? Wow time sure does fly when you are having fun!! Lori and I are off to Utah on Monday morning to spend a week there at the QuicKutz Platinum Retailer Event. I am working on finishing up the newsletter and it should go out sometime this evening so be sure to watch for it! There might just be a sale or something you will want to know about.... I'm just sayin' ...

It's been pretty busy around the store with new products coming in, classes and kits being prepped and lots of people in working on their holiday projects already. So what is on your list of Holiday Projects this year? Tell us what you are creating for the holidays - cards, mini books, wall hangings... you name it! I have two autographed copies of Holiday Cards Magazine from PaperCrafts to give away. Leave your comments by Wednesday, October 15th for your chance to win a copy!!

Have you ever thought of becoming

a published author? Scrapbooks, Etc. has launched a new program called Stories by Everyone, where you can create a hardcovered book with your own photos and story inside. The pages are printed on glossy paper in full colour. Looking for an anniversary gift? How about a personalized book on what you love about your significant other? Do you have a new baby? Scrapbooks, Etc. has a template for creating a book about the baby's first year, or first month when you change things around. Do you want to tell a friend how much you appreciate them? How about a book about your history together? You can even do up a "just because" book. All of the templates are alterable, so you make the book uniquely yours ... but you don't have to have all of the ideas from start to finish ... they'll help you along the way.

These digital books come in various sizes, depending on which book you choose. Choose your book and size, upload your photos, alter the story to suit your story and you're done.

There are some books that are available to everyone. Other, exclusive books require a special code to access. Our code is 2JJA23SH3V. This code not only opens up a whole special series of books, but it also gives you free shipping! To create your own digital book, go to Stories By Everyone today!

We have a sample of the We Are Family book in the store. Take a minute to check it out next time you are in.

While you're at it, check out the other new stuff that has arrived this week. I'm just working on gathering images now ... you won't be disappointed. Where we are going to put everything is still a question but Lori will find room somewhere, she always does. I'll blog about the new arrivals as soon as I get them up on the website.

** More Information on Stories By Everyone can be found HERE on our website **

YOU DID IT!!!

Thanks to all of our Wonderful Turtle Customers and Friends we managed to sell the 500 cards for KidsAbility with 20 minutes to spare.

We thank you. Lori definitely thanks you for finally releasing her. The people at KidsAbility will be thrilled with the support that you have provided for their programmes. We knew you could do it. We couldn't have done it without you. Gret big thank you hugs from all of us to all of you.

Can you Really resist that face?

Poor Lori has been locked in the window since opening time this morning. She is getting hungry, thirsty and really needs some "personal time". That small space is also quite warm ... talk about a sweat shop! Lights beaming down on her, no ventilation ... she needs release.

We are a mere 8 dozen cards away from Lori's release from the window. Can you help?

Who can resist a plea like that? Call now!!

She really IS in the window ...

see? Here's a video that Hannah just took of Lori's new crop room.

She has created another 30 cards or so since she was locked up. Come see our latest attraction here at the Turtle!! Call now to place your order. Operators are standing by. We can be reached at 519-664-3951.

We've got her all locked up

Lori is currently locked in our display window, creating great cards for a great cause. Thank you from all of us to all of you who have already supported our World Card Day project. We are half way to our goal of selling 500 cards in support of KidsAbility! Lori may actually make it out of the window by suppertime if this keeps up.

We also have Lesley here from Cornish Heritage Farms teaching a couple of great classes.

If you get a chance, stop by and see us. the sun is shining ... what better day to take a drive to St. Jacobs? While you're here you can pick up some great handmade cards and support KidsAbility at the same time.

6 sleeps to World Card Making Day

Well hopefully 6 sleeps - as long as I am not up all night making cards!!!! We are getting excited about this weekends events. Above is a sampling of the cards we have been creating for such a great cause.

If you are wondering what I am talking about.. we are doing a fundraiser for KidsAbility. We will be selling cards like these, $2.75 each or 12 for $30.00. $2.00 from each card goes to KidsAbility. The goal is 500 cards and I will be locked in the store display window until we meet our goal. I would really like to get home to see my children before they get married, so PLEASE come out and support this great cause!!!

Contact the store to order your cards today.

The Chill is in the evening air

and in the new shapes that we received from QuicKutz. Are you working on fall pages? Are you starting to work on Christmas Cards (aside from the ones that you are ordering to benefit KidsAbility, of course)? You'll want to check out the new dies we received today!! Lori figures she will keep QA working on Christmas from now through next July with all of the ideas flowing from this release. From scarecrows (both Squeeze and Revolution) to a haunted house ... from Christmas light borders to Santa Stop Here signs, this release has it all. Here are a couple of examples:

We also have LOTS of new cardstock in the store. The Bazzill Destinations line has arrived, as has the new line which has a polka dot texture. Come see it for yourself when you get a chance. We're still dealing with all that came in yesterday, and more will be here next week. I have no idea what it will be, but it's coming.

Don't forget, too, that the wonderful Vicki Boutin will be here on Sunday teaching a class on Distressing, direct from Ranger U. The class has so much for you to learn in creating an album that she has set aside 6 hours for this one class. Definitely a great opportunity to learn new techniques.

LOTS OF GOOD THINGS, LOTS OF GOOD CAUSES

WOW - I have to say that there is NEVER a dull moment at Scrapping Turtle. This weekend was our Scrap Pink event and I believe that a good time was had by all. We had the support of some of our suppliers and customers to help create goodie bags that were FANTASTIC. Everyone went home with a great bag of stuff. As you know Scrap Pink is an International Event to aid in the fight against Breast Cancer. We were thrilled to join in this great cause.

Another cause that we are putting some support behind is KidsAbility. KidsAbility provides services to over 4,000 children with disabilities each year in Waterloo Region & Wellington County. The work they do is so valuable to so many, and like many programs their funding has been cut and they face a shortfall to provide this must needed service. We have decided to help out with a fundraiser on World Card Making Day - October 4, 2008. And what better way to help a good cause then to lock me up in a window till we meet our goal. Now I know that some people would be happy to just leave me there, but I am hoping the majority will see the fun and value in this event. Here are the details of how you can participate in this event - and get a jump start on your Christmas gifts or stock up on some cards.

* If you would like to pre-order cards, please contact Scrapping Turtle no later than Friday, September 26, 2008.
* Cards will be available for pick-up at Scrapping Turtle on Saturday, October 4th, 2008 from 10 AM to 6 PM.
* Types of cards available All Occasion,Birthday, Christmas, Thank you, and "Surprise Me" (a random selection)
* the cost of cards is $2.75 each or 12 for $30.00. $2.00 from each card sold goes to KidsAbility

The winner is ...

a very excited Pat Harbin, who called the store Monday, shortly after the ticket was posted here. She called with some disbelief that she had won as she "never wins anything". Pat was here first thing Tuesday morning to pick up her package. Congratulations Pat!!

I've been busy trying to get more of the new product online for everyone. We now have the Little Yellow Bicycle "Frightful" line in stock. Whether you are planning a ghoulish Halloween party, have kids going Trick or Treating, or are going to join us for our Haunted Mill crop, this paper will complement your layouts well (not to mention the accessories). Some of the paper is flocked, some is glittered, some has foiling ... whatever your taste they have tried to give you something.

If Halloween isn't your fall thing, what about some of the beautiful papers we have just received from Bo Bunny! Lori reorganized the store last week to be able to get some of these papers out, only to have several of them sold out over the weekend!

They also have some beautiful Christmas papers that Bev has been buying up to make cards.

With so many events coming up at the store it's sometimes hard to keep them all in mind. Tomorrow night is Crop Night. There are still seats available, so if you want to start your weekend with "me" time, come join us for pizza and fun. This is the kick-off for our "Scrap Pink" fundraising crop for Breast Cancer. Our all-day crop is fully booked for Saturday, but if you are out and about, drop in and say Hi.

Next weekend, Vicki Boutin will be returning for another full day of learning on our part. Thanks to Hurricane Ike, Vicki's trip to Texas has been cancelled, so she has agreed to come here to teach a 6-hour class on Distressing Techniques compliments of Ranger! Seats for this are limited ... the class was over half-full before she left last weekend.

Don't forget, too, that the Fall Yard Sale is approaching quickly. We have several people who have picked up forms already! Deadline for dropping off your "gently used or forgot I had it" that you want to share is Thursday, October 16 so act quickly!

Time to run.
